When was the last time you washed your hands properly?

handwashingYou will be amazed to know that a simple task like washing hands is not done properly in our households or public toilets. May be many of us are not even aware how to wash our hands properly. You know many of the communicable diseases could be prevented by just a simple task of washing hands correctly.

Researchers discreetly watched 3,749 people, 60 per cent of them women, after they used public toilets. Over all, 10.3 per cent did not wash their hands at all, and 22.8 per cent used no soap. The remainder did use soap, but only 5.3 per cent washed for longer than 15 seconds, soap or no soap.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, proper washing means rubbing vigorously with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Men did worse than women — almost 15 per cent of them did not wash at all, compared with 7.1 per cent of women.

Also there is another study that indicates that simple act of washing one’s hands could ease the mind.
